Dillion Banda

Mbira

Dillion Banda hails from Gweru, Zimbabwe where he studied Ethnomusicology and Music Education at the University of Zimbabwe. He dabbled in a range of instruments, including piano, guitar, marimba, penny-whistle, recorder, harmonica and African drums, but has since found his true voice in the ancient Mbira Nyunganyunga. The Shona people of Zimbabwe have played this version of the Mbira instrument for thousands of years.

Due to the political unrest in his native country Dillion has been living as a refugee in South Africa since 2008.
