40 Fans have pledged to makes this event possible. General tickets now available!

Click here to find out how it works.

Drawingrooms is a series of secret one-night-only crowdfunded art exhibitions in the homes of fans.

Each person who pledges will get a limited edition hand-made postcard by the artist mailed to them before the event.

Please note: general ticket purchases do not come with a limited edition post card.

All the money from the pledges will go into a “pot” and one lucky attendee’s name will be drawn at the end of the night. That person will get to select one piece of art, or a collection of art works, to a guaranteed minimum value of R4 000 (total amount from pledges). The draw will take place at 21:00 and should the person who’s name is drawn not be present, they will forfeit their chance and another name will be drawn.

Works on display will be available for sale. If all pieces are sold out by 21:00 the winner will have the opportunity to commission a work from the artist to the value of the money in the “pot”.

As if all of this isn’t enough, we have also partnered with CocoáFair who will be doing chocolate tasting as well as have a limited edition chocolate for sale covered in a beautiful print by the artist.

Kate Arthur has been living in Cape Town for a year now and is still not accustomed to the drivers or the wind. She takes and finds pictures of people and paints them. She can best be described as frustrated, meticulous and sentimental.

“This most recent series emerged from a “doodles” project that I began earlier in the year. I’ve always been interested in portraiture and figure drawing, and wanted to try out pen-and-watercolour as a medium. I committed to producing daily works, which were initially small and simple, but which have gradually developed into something more sophisticated, with greater detail and more complex backgrounds, and the size – though still small – has standardised to a consistent 12x12cm square format. I work directly from my phone, browsing Instagram for source material – sometimes my own pictures, sometimes those of my friends or followers – and then repost the painted versions to the same platform.”
